The Whitefield

The Whitefield is a vast expanse of tundra. Herds of caribou and packs of wolves journey across the Whitefield in their ceaseless migration. Lichens grow on heavy boulders that were left behind by glaciers thousands of years ago as they passed through. Red and purple brush grows around pools of crystal-clear water. The occasional log cabin or wigwam is home to homesteaders or mountaineers. During the springtime, the Whitefield is a sight to behold. The brush blossoms with all sorts of cold-weather flowers. A variety of water fowl return from their migration south. Moths, butterflies, and dragonflies hover busily about, dancing on currents of warm southern air.
