The Great Western Wood

The Great Western Wood extends from the eastern slopes of the Giant’s Club Mountains to the Anghiem River to the west and south across the border into Röllowynn. The ancient trees have stood for centuries, shrouding the treetop houses of the wood elves that call the Woods their home. Few dare to venture into the dense and heavy woodland, and many who do never return. Rumor has it that the waters that flow through the Wood are enchanted.

Silverglade is the home of the wood elves, or sylvan elves as they are more commonly referred to. These elves are more muscular and athletic than their high elf kin. In addition, whereas the high elves favor the wizard class, sylvan elves prefer the ranger class. The sylvan elves are wild and nomadic, making their temporary homes in the treetops of the ancient oaks.

Though the elves guard their woodland realm fiercely, there are still vile creatures that roam the forest. Ettercaps (foul creatures resembling a cross between a gangly human and a bloated spider) silently crawl along the long branches of the trees, dropping down upon unsuspecting passerby. The enchanted waters of the Anghiem River that flows through the Wood brings fungus to life, and the living mushrooms release toxic spores. The most terrifying beast of the Wood is the hulking gray render, and they travel in packs. Ancient stone giants, often mistaken for boulders, will trample tree and traveler alike if roused from their eternal slumber.
